This course provides a comprehensive overview of evidence-based strategies to prevent, detect and manage surgical site infections across different surgical specialties. Participants will review key components of SSI surveillance, antimicrobial prophylaxis, perioperative infection prevention measures, and implementation strategies.

Objectives
Describe current methods of SSI surveillance with a special focus on automated and semi-automated techniques; Understand the most important aspects of specific SSI prevention, with a focus on skin disinfection, surgical antimicrobial prophylaxis; Understand and implement the current SSI prevention guidelines issues by the CDC, EDCD, WHO and SHEA; Learn optimal methods for planning and implementing an SSI intervention.
Who should attend
Medical doctors and pharmacists; nurses or other healthcare professionals with an MSc or PhD are eligible, provided they completed the basic module or have experience in IPC.
