The HFA Advanced Heart Failure course covers identification, initial management, referral criteria, and final treatment in advanced HF care centres with heart transplantation and ventricular assist devices.
Objectives
Understand how to identify and evaluate advanced heart failure; know when to refer patients with (suspected) advanced HF to an experienced advanced heart failure centre; learn about the indications for advanced heart failure therapies such as durable MCS and heart transplantation; learn how to manage acute and advanced heart failure with medical therapy and mechanical circulatory support; learn about the complex multidisciplinary patient centred management in patients with advanced HF; engage in the management of complex advanced heart failure cases; gain hands-on experience with hemodynamic evaluation and interpretation of data.
Who should attend
Younger cardiologists in advanced heart failure training, experienced cardiologists who want to update / learn about advanced heart failure, cardiac surgeons with an interest in advanced heart failure, intensivists, Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) coordinators, Heart Failure Nurses and specialized nurses.
