The 44th Congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) brings together professionals in ophthalmology to discuss clinical practices, advancements in cataract and refractive surgery, and modern eye care technologies.
Join us in London for the “Queen of Hearts” of ophthalmology congresses in 2026!
The ESCRS convenes in the city where the first intraocular lens (IOL) was implanted!
Take the Elizabeth line to the historic Victoria Docklands and prepare to meet the royalty of ophthalmology in the Excel Arena – or take the light rail from Tower Hill, where Henry VIII had two of his wives incarcerated (and later beheaded). London is a metropolis rich in history and innovation – there is no better place to experience 21st century eye care and eye surgery at its finest!
The 44th Congress of the ESCRS will take place on the banks of the River Thames from 11 to 15 September 2026. All signs point to surpassing even the remarkable success of the Copenhagen Congress in 2025!
As always, the ESCRS Congress will feature Main and Research Symposia, Arena Debates, The Global Refractive Symposium, 3D Surgical Microscope and AI Summit, ESCRS/EURETINA Symposium, Near Live Surgery, Instructional Courses, Wetlabs, Video Sessions, Posters and Oral Presentations as well as various other special interest days and sessions. ESCRS iNovation® Day might still be young, but it is already well-established and in high demand. It is never too early to get your tickets! Or, as a true Londoner would say: “It’s about bloody time…”
Building on the legacy of the recent ESCRS Congresses under the leadership of Filomena Ribeiro (to name just one of the society’s former presidents), we will continue promoting excellence in clinical practice, research, and education, while fostering a culture of sustainability and social responsibility.
There will also be several novelties. A few of these are of particular interest to the pharmaceutical industry. We are actively working on these innovations and remain highly optimistic about their impact.
Plan ahead and mark your calendar!
We look forward to seeing you at the 44th Congress of the ESCRS in the “City of Dreams”!

Who should attend

Be aware of agencies pretending to provide official services using the ESCRS brand.

The official organising, registration and housing bureau for the ESCRS Congress 2026 is MCI Suisse SA and you should only trust information from legitimate sources like the ESCRS website, the official Congress, ESCRS iNovation® Day, Winter Meeting websites, and MCI website.

It is important to be aware that you may be contacted by phone or email, or see advertising, by unauthorised individuals or companies that act as travel agencies, wholesalers, or destination management companies to solicit you with aggressive or deceptive tactics for services or information including registrations.

They may also misrepresent themselves as the official registration and housing bureau and may illegally use the Congress name or logo.

Exhibiting and sponsoring companies may also be contacted fraudulently to obtain delegate lists for payment. Under applicable GDPR regulations, ESCRS will not sell any delegate lists to any entity.

Please be aware that such companies do not represent ESCRS or MCI and are not mandated to act on their behalf.

If you are contacted by someone asking if you need to register to the ESCRS Congress 2026 or asking if you need a room, please do not complete your registration and/or room booking with such entities and do not process any of the payments they may request.

Registrations purchased in this manner will not give access to the ESCRS Congress 2026.

If you are contacted by companies unrelated to ESCRS, the ESCRS Winter Meetings or the ESCRS Annual Congresses, or if they represent themselves as the official Congress Secretariat for ESCRS Meetings and Congresses, please obtain as much information as you can, such as the name of the company, the person calling and their telephone number – then contact MCI Suisse SA here via email or call us: +41 22 33 99 576.

Should you require further information or want to confirm the legitimacy of any deals or services related to the Congress, please feel free to get in touch with us.

Attendee List Sales Scam

We have noticed an increase in scam emails offering conference attendee lists for upcoming events for a fee. This scam is widespread, with scammers primarily phishing for personal information.

The companies offering to sell these are NOT affiliated with ESCRS and are NOT authorised to contact you for any reason. Do not reply to these requests. Nearly all third parties offering to sell attendee lists are engaging in a scam. Do not respond to the email or purchase these lists.

Should you be contacted by an unauthorised agency, you can report it to the E… Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF). Users from the United States can instead report activity to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

Scammers utilise web crawlers or email “scraper” programmes to gather data from websites. They seek out information such as names, emails, and any event information they can gather. After collecting information, they launch mass email campaigns to assess the legitimacy of the gathered email addresses.

ESCRS will never solicit you to pay for attendee lists and will never sell its attendee lists to outside parties.
