Design & Architecture History

Design and architecture history study how buildings and designed objects came to look and work as they do, including movements, makers, materials and the social context of design. Conferences mix archival and theoretical research with building visits, collection sessions and conservation discussion. They bring together historians and theorists, architects and designers with a research interest, museum and archive staff, doctoral students, and conservation specialists.
